Responsible Gambling Policy
This Responsible Gambling Policy applies to , located at . We are committed to providing a safe, fair, and enjoyable environment for all of our guests. Please read this policy carefully, as it outlines the measures we have in place to support responsible gambling and to assist those who may need help.
Our Commitment
At , we believe that gambling should be a fun and entertaining leisure activity. We understand, however, that for some people gambling can become a serious problem, and we take that responsibility very seriously. We are fully committed to promoting responsible gambling practices and to supporting any guest who may be experiencing difficulties related to gambling.
Our commitment to responsible gambling includes:
- Providing a safe and welcoming environment where guests can gamble responsibly and within their means.
- Training our staff to recognise the signs of problem gambling and to respond with empathy, discretion, and professionalism.
- Making information about responsible gambling and support services readily available throughout our premises.
- Actively supporting the self-exclusion schemes available under Australian Capital Territory legislation.
- Refusing service to any person who is visibly intoxicated or who appears to be experiencing a gambling-related crisis.
- Collaborating with community organisations and government bodies to promote responsible gambling across Canberra and the wider ACT community.
We want every guest to enjoy their experience at . If you ever feel that gambling is no longer fun, we encourage you to reach out to our staff or to one of the support services listed in this policy. You are never alone, and help is always available.
18+ Age Policy
Gambling at is strictly restricted to guests who are 18 years of age or older. This is a legal requirement under the Gaming Machine Act 2004 (ACT) and other applicable ACT legislation, and we take our obligations under this law very seriously.
To ensure compliance with our age policy, we may ask any guest to provide valid, government-issued photo identification before allowing access to gaming areas. Acceptable forms of identification include:
- Australian driver's licence or learner's permit
- Australian passport
- Australian proof-of-age card
- International passport
- ImmiCard issued by the Australian Government
If you are unable to provide satisfactory proof of age, you will not be permitted to enter or remain in any gaming area on our premises. Our staff are trained to conduct age verification checks respectfully and without discrimination.
If you are aware of a person under the age of 18 attempting to access gambling facilities at , please notify a staff member immediately. Protecting young people from the harms of gambling is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate your assistance.
Recognising the Signs of Problem Gambling
Problem gambling can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or income. It can develop gradually over time, and many people do not realise they have a problem until it begins to seriously impact their life, relationships, or finances. We encourage all of our guests to be aware of the warning signs and to seek help early if they recognise any of the following in themselves or someone they care about.
Signs That Gambling May Be Becoming a Problem
- Spending more money on gambling than you can afford to lose.
- Borrowing money or selling possessions to fund gambling.
- Feeling anxious, irritable, or restless when you are not gambling or when you try to cut back.
- Chasing losses — continuing to gamble in an attempt to win back money you have already lost.
- Lying to family members, friends, or colleagues about the amount of time or money you spend on gambling.
- Neglecting work, study, family, or other responsibilities because of gambling.
- Using gambling as a way to escape stress, anxiety, depression, or other difficult emotions.
- Feeling a need to gamble with larger and larger amounts of money to feel the same level of excitement.
- Making repeated unsuccessful attempts to control, reduce, or stop gambling.
- Experiencing financial difficulties, including unpaid bills or debt, as a result of gambling.
If you recognise any of these signs in yourself or someone you know, please do not hesitate to seek support. Acknowledging that there may be a problem is a courageous and important first step. Help is available, and things can get better.
Tips for Gambling Responsibly
- Set a budget before you start and stick to it — only ever gamble with money you can afford to lose.
- Set a time limit for your gambling session and leave when you reach it.
- Never gamble when you are feeling upset, stressed, or under the influence of alcohol or other substances.
- Take regular breaks during your gambling session.
- Balance gambling with other leisure activities and social interests.
- Do not think of gambling as a way to make money or to solve financial problems.
Self-Exclusion Tools and Limit-Setting
We strongly support every guest's right to take control of their gambling behaviour. A range of self-exclusion tools and limit-setting options are available to help you do this.
Voluntary Self-Exclusion
If you feel that your gambling is getting out of control, or if you simply want to take a break, you can apply to self-exclude from and other gambling venues in the ACT. Self-exclusion is a formal arrangement that prevents you from entering designated gambling areas at participating venues for a period of your choosing.
In the ACT, self-exclusion is managed through the ACT Gambling and Racing Commission's self-exclusion scheme. To arrange a self-exclusion order, or to find out more about how the scheme works, please speak with one of our Responsible Gambling Officers or contact the ACT Gambling and Racing Commission directly.
How to Initiate Self-Exclusion at
- Speak confidentially with any member of our staff, who can connect you with our designated Responsible Gambling Officer.
- Our Responsible Gambling Officer will guide you through the self-exclusion process in a private and supportive setting.
- Self-exclusion can be arranged for a minimum period as specified under ACT legislation, and can be extended at your request.
- Once your self-exclusion is in place, our staff will take all reasonable steps to enforce it and to ensure you are not permitted to access gaming areas.
Additional Limit-Setting Options
- Pre-commitment: Under ACT law, gaming machine players are entitled to set pre-commitment limits on the amount of money they spend. Ask our staff about how to register and use the pre-commitment system on our gaming machines.
- Time limits: Our staff can assist you in setting session time limits to help you manage your gambling.
- Cooling-off periods: If you have self-excluded and wish to return to gambling after your exclusion period, a cooling-off period may apply. Our staff can explain the process in detail.
All self-exclusion requests and limit-setting discussions are handled with the utmost confidentiality and without judgement. We are here to support you, not to judge you.
Support Services and Helpline Numbers
If you or someone you know is struggling with gambling, please know that you do not have to face it alone. There are many free, confidential support services available to help you. Do not hesitate to reach out — speaking with someone can make a real difference.
